Privacy Policy
Applies to the Luma website, the Luma desktop apps and the Luma Chrome extension. Last updated October 26, 2026.
What Luma is
Luma is a screen and camera recorder for a private team. You record a video, Luma uploads it to your team’s Luma library, and you get a link to share it.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a salted scrypt hash; we never store or see the password itself.
- Recordings you choose to upload: the video, its thumbnail, title and length. Luma records only after you press Start and only the tab, window, screen, camera or microphone you select.
- Activity on shared videos: comments and emoji reactions (with the name the viewer enters) and a view count.
- Sign-in sessions: a random session token for each browser, app or extension you sign in with, plus when it was last used.
- Basic request data: IP addresses are used briefly to block abuse (for example repeated sign-in attempts) and are deleted within a day.
What the Chrome extension stores on your computer
The extension keeps your session token, your name and email, and your recording preferences (mode, camera, microphone) in Chrome’s local extension storage. It does not read your browsing history or the content of web pages, and it does not run on websites you visit.
How information is used
Only to provide Luma: signing you in, storing and playing your videos, showing comments and views, and letting your team admin manage accounts. We do not sell or rent data, show ads, or use your videos or data for advertising, profiling or training models.
Where it is stored
Account data and video details are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon (Singapore region). Video and thumbnail files are stored in Cloudflare R2 (Asia-Pacific). The web app runs on Vercel. These providers process data only to host Luma. All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, and video files are private: they can only be played through short-lived signed links that Luma creates.
Who can see your videos
Anyone you give a video’s share link to can watch it, react and comment. You can archive a video to switch its link off, or delete it to remove the video and its files permanently. Your team admin can see account names, emails and storage use, and can reset passwords or disable accounts.
Keeping and deleting data
Videos stay until you or your team admin delete them. Deleting a video removes its files from storage. To delete your account and all of its videos, contact your team admin or the address below.
